Local industry representatives visited Collie Senior High School recently to renew their partnership to help students studying trades.
Representatives from Premier Coal, Griffin Coal, South32, Transfield Worley Power Services, Synergy and the Collie Chamber of Commerce and Industry gathered at the school on Thursday, April 5 to sign a new memorandum of agreement with school.
The representatives also received a tour of the school’s trade facilities and met the students affected by the partnership.
The Collie Education and Trades Alliance supports all year 11 and 12 students seeking trades qualifications, with each of the industry partners contributing $5000 each year to ensure students have up to date industry standard uniforms, equipment and facilities.
Students are also supported by the industry partners to complete work placements in their areas of interest, preparing them for the workforce once they finish their studies, along with providing guest speakers and industry advice.
