The weather hit the golf course hard on Saturday with a freak hailstorm.
At times it was hard to know if it was hail or your golf ball. With the thunder rumbling and a bit of lightning around and a lot of ice on the greens, the Miller/Graham event was cancelled.
The event will be played again next week.
On Tuesday, 27 players played in the club-sponsored Leisure Day.
Peter Coombs bounced back into the winners’ circle with 41 points. Peter had a few points to spare from the runner-up Jamie Miller with 38 and Steven Ireland also on 38.
Graham Williams, Alan Kent and Eric Annandale all had 37 while Phil Warburton was rewarded for 36.
The best vet on the day went to Neil Motion with 37 points.
Thursday Scroungers attracted a field of 45 players.
Ian Shannon and Peter Coombs were locked together at top of the leader board on 21. The spin of the wheel went in favour of Shanks to claim the win.
Phil Eldridge, Hugh Annandale and Bruce Jackson all had 20 followed by David Broadbent, Gary Old, Tony Barker-May and John Wray on 19. Neil Motion and Alan Kent rounded out the vouchers on 18.
A reminder the Stoney Creek three-ball Classic is on May 20. The nomination sheet is on the board at the club house.
Next week: 18-hole par trophy; Tuesday leisure day; and Thursday scroungers.
