The Collie Art Gallery opened the Beyond Boundaries exhibition last Saturday afternoon displaying the works of locals Diana Symes and Robert Turner.
Mrs Symes’ brother David Poole travelled all the way from New Zealand to open to exhibition.
Working with a number of different materials including plants, leaves, dried skeletal insects, silk, wool, cotton and wrapping paper, Mrs Symes is a textile artist who said she turns interesting materials into wearable art forms, sculptures and wall art.
Mr Turner is a skilled artist in timber machining and coach building, working with old tools and machinery to make sculptures and wall art.
Both artists have had work displayed all around the world. Mrs Symes exhibits in New Zealand often and her other works go as far as the USA, England, South Africa and all around Australia.
Mr Turner has works in America, Sydney, Darwin and said he also does roadshows all across WA.
The exhibition will be on display until June 17. For more information visit www.collieartgallery.org.au.
