Collie Police have charged a 38-year-old man with attempted burglary and being armed in a way that may cause fear after he allegedly tried to enter a property with a machete.
Acting Senior Sergeant Terry Townsend said CCTV footage had shown the man allegedly attempt to gain entry to the Sanders Street property at 5:20am on June 18 by hitting a side patio door with the machete.
He said police had located the man, who was known to the occupants of the property, later that day. He was remanded into custody and will appear in court next month.
Police also charged a 34-year-old man with attempted burglary after he was also allegedly caught on CCTV attempting to break in to a property on Hampton Court on June 15. He will appear in court next month.
Senior Sergeant Townsend said police are looking into an assault at the skate park on June 16.
He said a boy was allegedly punched in the face by another male juvenile who had been bullying him and began following him as he left.
The victim then returned to the skate park with a piece of wood to scare the attacker before he allegedly had a scooter thrown at him. As a result, the boy received a gash on his head which required five stitches.
Senior Sergeant Townsend said police were still looking for information about who was involved in the assault.
Police are also investigating a series of fraud offences that occurred on June 15.
Senior Sergeant Townsend said police had received CCTV footage that allegedly showed two females using a stolen credit card at several businesses, including Woolworths and Coles Express.
He said police had two people of interest and were investigating how they had come into possession of the credit card.
Police also located two stolen cars over the last week.
Senior Sergeant Townsend said a vehicle had been stolen from a house on Palmer Road on June 15 and was located in Bridgetown the next day. He said it appeared the vehicle had been dumped after running out of petrol.
Police also recovered a stolen vehicle from a house in Simpson Street on June 16. Senior Sergeant Townsend said the car had been stolen a week earlier in Westminster in Perth and that a 31-year-old man had been charged with the theft and drug offences.
Senior Sergeant Townsend has also warned the community not to confront groups of people causing disturbances, but rather to contact police.
The warning comes after police received several reports of teenagers throwing rocks in the area surrounding Amaroo Primary School.
