Representatives from Road Trauma Support WA will visit Collie later this month to hold an information session about road trauma in the community.
More than 38,000 Western Australians are affected by road trauma each year and regional drivers are over represented in the road toll, with more than 500 people losing their lives on regional roads since 2012.
Speed, alcohol, fatigue, distraction and not wearing seatbelts are the most common causes of death and injury on regional roads, with most crashes happening in 110km/h speed zones.
The session, which will take place from 10am on Thursday, July 26 at the Shire of Collie council chambers, will focus on issues surrounding road trauma in the community and how to improve access to support services.
The session is open to emergency service workers, local government workers and anyone in the wider community.
To register, email admin@rtswa.org.au by Thursday, July 19. For further information, contact Road Trauma Support on 1300 004 814.
