The Collie Eagles colts team picked up its biggest win of the season on Saturday when it claimed a 106-point victory over Donnybrook at VC Mitchell Park.
The Eagles went into the game knowing they would need to claim a big win to keep their hopes of making finals alive.
The Eagles kept Donnybrook to just one goal in the first half, to hold a 42-point lead at half time, before an eight goal to none third quarter blew the margin out to almost 14 goals.
Kicking into the wind, the Eagles extended the margin by another three goals before the siren sounded at the end of the fourth quarter. The final score was 18.11 (119) to 2.1 (13).
Jack Dye and Austin Kent led the way for the Eagles with five goals apiece, while Jakob Pilatti chipped in with three.
The Eagles reserves also claimed a comfortable win, defeating the Dons by 46 points.
Donnybrook, who is yet to win a game, had the wind advantage early but could only manage a five point lead at quarter time.
The Eagles then punished the Dons when they had the wind advantage with six goals in each of the second and final quarters, giving them the 15.10 (100) 8.6 (54) win.
Brett Loxton and Matthew Burek were the standouts with four goals each.
The women’s team had a bye.
