YEAR 6
The Collie Eagles’ Year 6 side hosted Marist at the Collie Recreation Ground on Saturday.
Thomas Carter was our captain for the week.
Collie started the game well and had plenty of the ball in the forward line but struggled to get some scores on the board and ended the first with 2.3 to Marist 0.0.
In the second quarter Ethan Michalak was put to full forward and managed to kick five goals for the quarter; half-time scores were 7.6 to Marist 1.3.
In the last half of the game a few kids got rotated through different positions and they all played well. The final score was Collie Eagles 16.9 to Marist 3.5.
Goal kickers for Collie were Ethan Michalak 5, Tom Bell 3, Hayden Fogarty, Jett Pike, Kade Wiggers 2, Alby Bebbington and Max Ireland 1 each.
Two of our awards for the week went to Nina Bercene and Tyson Washer for running water while they can’t play due to injury; well done guys.
The other award went to Blair Scott who played on the ball in the last half and had a really good game. The other awards from last week were Jack Kohler, David Mears and Bryce Wood.
This Saturday we play HBL Lions at Leschenault 5B at 10am.
YEAR 7
The Year 7 team also took on Marist at home on Saturday with the Year 7 team being tested for the first time this year.
Final scores were Collie 8-8 to Marist 4-1.
Coach Rinder said he was very happy with the way his team played against quality opposition and would have awarded each of his team an award if possible.
However award winners for the day were Judd Rinder (BOG), Blake Rees and Jamie Barreto.
Goal kickers for the day were Devin Gooch 2, Jock Abraham, Blayden Coverly, Josh Elliot, George Fuller, Baxter Miller and Judd Rinder 1 goal each.
Next week the Year 7’s take on South Bunbury at Hay Park at 11.30am.
YEAR 8
The Collie Eagles Year 8 team took on Bunbury Bulldogs at Hay Park early Saturday morning in great conditions for footy.
The Eagles only had 18 players but put on a great show against the third top team, winning the second half of the game and showing real toughness and quality movement from the centre bounce downs.
Eagles eventually went down 3-7 to Bulldogs 10-6. Goal kickers for Collie were Flynn Williams, Billy Barrett and Ryan Barber.
Award winners for the day were Levi Cooper, Robby Chitty, Liam Wilson, Reece Pilatti and Jye Smith playing his best game of the year.
Coach Cooper commended the team on how well they took the game to the Bulldogs and again showing pride in their jumpers.
Next week the Eagles take on HBL Pride in Leschenault at 11.30am in a must win game.
YEAR 9
The Year 9 travelling team took on Bunbury Bulldogs at Hay Park on Saturday morning, and went down 43 points to 95.
Goal kickers for Collie on the day were Liam Cain, Tristan Ramshaw, Bevan Stone and Jake Pitchers.
Award winners were Zac Pilatti, Matt Gadene and Hunter Stocks.
Next week the Eagles take on Harvey in Harvey.
YEAR 10
The Year 10 team had a fantastic win against Harvey Bulls on Saturday at home.
The Eagles running out 10-6 to Harvey 6-3.
Goal kickers for Collie were Christian Mears, Raymond Ugle, Hayden Whiteaker and Jayden Abraham.
Award winners for the day were Alex Davidson, Ben Henke, Dean Wynne and Christian Mears.
Coach Harrison said every player played extremely well and to the best of their abilities, it was a great team effort.
Next week the Eagles take on Dunsborough.
