Collie Woodturners group convenor Domenic Italiano was recognised with the Woodturners Association of Western Australia’s award of merit at the weekend.
Deputy convenor Dave Saunders presented Mr Italiano with the award at the group’s annual Weekend Workshop event on Saturday and said it acknowledged the two decades he had given to the club.
“He has always been generous in imparting knowledge to new members and took on the role of convenor when no one else was prepared to do so,” Mr Saunders said.
“Dom’s commitment to the Collie Woodturners group and the Woodturners Association of WA is beyond rare.”
Mr Italiano said the award was ‘unexpected’ but that he enjoyed his time working with the association and the Collie group.
The day saw woodturners from around the state visit Collie to witness demonstrations from local woodturners, share tips and compete, with members of differing skill and experience levels competing to see who could make the best free-standing clock.
