Showcasing a range of talented dancers, Lyn Hansen’s School of Dance will be performing their Greatest Showtime concert held next month.
The concert will have performances from ages 4 – 17 and will showcase all genres at the Miners Institute on Saturday, September 15 from 7:30pm.
Dance teacher Lyn Hansen decided to base the theme off The Greatest Showman, starring Australian actor Hugh Jackman.
“I have covered almost every theme under the sun throughout my career and I thought let’s go for something different,” she said.
“So for the opening I am doing one million dreams from the movie and then I’m finishing with the girls doing all genres and a touch of The Greatest Showman.
“I have based it off that because I have always followed Hugh Jackman because he did his training through the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and I’m very into how versatile he is.”
Mrs Hansen said she has been teaching dance professionally for 44 years throughout the South West.
“I learnt to dance here in Collie but my first dance school was in Harvey and then my auntie gave it away and then her children and grandchildren didn’t want it so I took it over from her,” she said.
“I mainly wanted to start my own dancing business for my own independence and my own style and creation and my auntie was involved in it and it’s been a family tradition I have tried to continue on with.”
The now 63-year-old said along with getting her dancers ready for the concert she also has dancers participating in Festiv Arty heats and earlier this year she took on the Perth dance challenge and the Western Australian eisteddfod at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.
“My concert is entertaining and well worth the money you spend and it’s a great way to see variety and the progress of the children from year to year how they come along,” she said.
Doors open at 6:30pm, tickets will be available at the door on the night, $15 for adults and $5 for children.
