The Collie Leo Club appointed 14-year-old Blayne Emmett as the inaugural president at Wednesday night’s meeting.
Lions Club president Ray Zinner said the process was voted preferentially and four members stood for the position.
The Collie Senior High School student was elected to the position by his peers and said it was an honour to be the first president.
“I was surprised and I’m excited to have the opportunity to show and practice leadership skills,” he said.
“I wanted to run for president so I could show what I can do in a leadership role and to help out and contribute my ideas to the group.”
The club also elected Dana Coomer as vice president, Shae Digney as treasurer, Connor Silvester as vice treasurer, Bree Seiler as secretary, Lachlan Stephen as vice secretary and Keeley Collier as tail twister.
On Saturday, September 15, the club held its first fundraising bake sale in front of Terry White Chemart in Forrest Street.
All money raised went to the Lions Need for Feed drought relief program for the farmers struggling in other parts of the country.
The Collie Leo Club meet at McDonald’s from 5.45 to 7pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.
