Dancing Delight
The Old Time Dance in Darkan recently was graced with some wonderful dancers from Bunbury, Eaton and Harvey who came up and along with locals and Boddington visitors, enjoyed the wonderful music supplied by Sue Piesse from Wagin on the organ.
Forty people enjoyed an afternoon of music and dance which included a sing-a-long of some well known tunes.
Seniors Cook Up
The first cook up for the Seniors Meals Project was held on September 6.
After an induction day prior to the event inaugural volunteers Robyn Quill and Adele Lubcke started the cooking with a roast meal and lasagne followed by apple pie.
The project will continue for eight weeks and if successful may continue indefinitely.
This project has been funded by an Age Friendly Community grant and the Shire of West Arthur.

New Podiatrist for Darkan
Podiatrist Julian Boo will commence at the Health and Resource Centre on September 27.
Appointments can be made by contacting the West Arthur CRC on 9736 2000.
Moodiarrup Hall Dance
All are welcome to go along to the dance at Moodiarrup Hall on Saturday, September 29 from 8pm.
Admission is $10 per person and please bring a plate of supper.

Oppy Shop News
The takings for August for the Darkan Oppy Shop came to $400 which was forwarded to WA Deaf Society.
September takings will go to Alzheimer’s WA.
The Oppy Shop is open Tuesday’s during school term from 10am-4pm and is on the Coalfields Hwy next to the road house in Darkan.
Faces of West Arthur
Around 50 local residents came out on September 5 for the launch of the Faces of West Arthur photography exhibition by the Darkan Photography Group.
Everyone who came along was impressed by the fantastic close up head shots of local people which, thanks to a grant for the project from the Creative Grid as part of Country Arts WA, meant they were could be printed on a large scale for maximum effect.
The exhibition is still hanging at the West Arthur CRC so call in for a look.
CWA Bring and Buy
The final Bring and Buy fundraiser for the year will be on Tuesday, September 18 from 10am-2pm outside Rarebits on Burrowes Cafe in Darkan.
Funds raised will go to drought relief over east.

Parkinson’s Support Nurse
There will be two visiting specialist Parkinson’s Support nurses in Darkan on September 26.
They will be available for private consultation from 10.30am.

After the consultations the local Parkinson’s Support Group will have afternoon tea around 1.30pm.
Tech Tuesdays
Tuesday’s are now Tech Tuesdays at the West Arthur CRC with an open house from 10am-12 noon for help with computers, phones, tablets etc, with Daniel the trainee who is a computer whizz.
The first half hour is free. Just ensure you bring in any cords etc that your machine uses.
