The Collie Public Library has been missing a familiar face this week after Shire of Collie Information Services manager Alison Kidman retired after 17 years in the job last week.
Ms Kidman said she thoroughly enjoyed her job, which involved managing the Collie Public Library and the shire’s social media, but was looking forward to ‘enjoying life’.
“I’m going to help out at the museum as a volunteer and I’m hoping to do some travel,” she said.
“In the short term, I’m hoping I’ll be in Melbourne watching the Eagles win the grand final.
“If they make it, then I’m definitely going.”
Ms Kidman said she would miss the people the most in her retirement.
“I just love the variety – you never know who’s going to come in the door,” she said.
“I’ve met heaps of people in the community through working here… I’m going to miss the people definitely.”
Shire chief executive David Blurton said Ms Kidman had been an ‘outstanding’ employee of the shire.
“She has overseen the transition of the library from a place that just loaned books to a modern communication facility offering programs for all ages,” he said.
“Everyone enjoyed working with Alison and we would like to wish her all the best in her retirement and thank her for her years of service.”
