This year’s Club Champion event saw one of the best field numbers for the past few years with the event played over two days.
Vicki Graham took the title of club champion for 2018, after a close contest with Deb VanVollenstee over the 36-hole event.
After the first round there was only one shot separating the two, with Graham shooting 90 and VanVollenstee 91.
The trend continued in the second round with Graham scoring 88 and VanVollenstee 89.
This gave Graham a two-stroke lead to win the event.
This will be Vicki’s 14th time winning this title.
The 36-hole nett event, playing for the Lynn Family Trophy, was won by Deb VanVollenstee with rounds of 75 / 73 / 148, three shots clear of runner-up Angela Ireland with rounds of 76 / 75 / 151.
Third place went to Bev Moyses with 75 / 77 / 152.
The first round winners, playing for trophies donated by Sandra Brittain, were Vicki Graham for the gross with 90 and D. Lawrence for the nett with 74.
The second round winners, also playing for trophies donated by Sandra Brittain, were Vicki Graham for the gross with 88 and Deb VanVollenstee for the nett with 73.
DEB VanVollenstee continued her excellent form following the club championship to win the A-grade in the stableford event with 37 points, three shots ahead of runner-up Shelley Barker-May with 34.
Third place went to club champion Vicki Graham with 32 on countback from Lesley Motion, also 32.
In the B-grade, Blanche Faries played great golf to win with 35 points, three shots clear of Rhonda Annandale 32.
Third place went to Krys Scoffern on 27 followed by Annette Atherton on 25.
Novelties were won by K. Scoffern (Boullevarde), K. Farquhar (Deluxe Hair and Flowers on Forrest).
Monthly medal winners: A-grade – Angela Ireland; B-grade – Annette Atherton.
The South West Women’s Foursomes Championship was held on Saturday and Sunday last weekend which meant no men’s competition being played on Saturday.
Kim Metcalfe won last Tuesday’s leisure day competition with a score of 39 stableford points.
Metcalfe has been in fine form lately and his win came as no surprise.
In the runner-up position, with a steady 38 was Rob Cavanagh, one ahead of third place getter, George Newlands, who played a good round, finishing with 37.
David Broadbent was next with 35, followed by Trevor McCormick and Eric Annandale who each scored 34.
Steven Ireland was the day’s best vet with 37 points.
Novelties: Ray Cooper (4), Brad Swan (7), Trevor Graham (9), Kim Metcalfe (14) and Rob Cavanagh (18).
Last Thursday’s nine-hole scroungers comp was won by Graham Williams with a score of 19 stableford points.
One shot back, on 18 was runner-up, Wayne Waywood, ahead of Rob Cavanagh and Brad Swan, each on 17.
Rounding out the vouchers with 16 each were Neil Motion and Danny Cheng.
Novelties: Greg White (4), Graham Williams (6) and Clive Pullan (9); Danny Cheng won the voucher for the day’s best gross score with 39 off-the-stick.
Saturday will be an 18-hole stableford, with leisure day on Tuesday.
