Health and Resource Centre officially opens
It was a beautiful day to officially open the West Arthur Health and Resource Centre extension on September 15.
Special guests present included the Hon. Darren West MLC, Peter Rundle MLA, Celia Loot from the Department of Primary Industry and Regional Development, shire president Ray Harrington, deputy shire president Kevin King, shire chief execuitve Nicole Wasmann and West Arthur CRC chair Stuart Putland.
After the acknowledgement of country and introduction of guests by the morning’s emcee Karen Prowse, Ray Harrington spoke about how the building came into being; the matching of the community need by the timely bequests left for the purpose of a public building by Walter Hawthorn, a past resident of the shire and also the bequest for a historical space by Betty Brown also a previous resident of the shire.
Ms Prowse then spoke more about working through the build and thanked the builders White Building Company and also the Department of Primary Industry and Regional Development for the $250,000 grant the CRC received towards the project.
She also mentioned the hard work put in by staff over the building cycle to keep things as normal as possible for the users of the centre.
After short speeches from both Peter Rundle and Darren West, Mr West called on Stuart Putland to officially cut the ribbon alongside Peter Rundle, Ray Harrington, Karen Prowse and Nicole Wasmann.
Once officially opened guests were invited to stay for another cuppa, view the Faces of West Arthur photo exhibition and then wander across the road to the shire’s Cultural Festival.
With over 60 guests present, it was standing room only for the official proceedings.
Thanks to all those who came along on the day it was absolutely wonderful to see this event so well supported by the community.
Moodiarrup Hall Dance
All are welcome to go along to the dance at Moodiarrup Hall on September 29 from 8pm.
Admission is $10pp and please bring a plate of supper.

Tech Tuesdays
Every Tuesday at the West Arthur CRC there is an open house from 10am-12 noon for enquiries and help with computers, phones, tablets etc, with Daniel the trainee who is a computer whizz.
The first half hour is free.
Just make sure you bring in any cords etc that your machine uses.
Kids Holiday Cooking
Send the kids along to the West Arthur CRC to cook their own lunch on Friday September 28 from 10.30am-12.30pm at the CRC.
It’s $10 for non-members or $8 for members and they will prepare soup and savouries that they will eat before they come home.
