The Collie Family Centre will be holding a Mind Your Health event in Collie’s Central Park this Thursday, October 11 as part of the festivities for Western Australia’s Mental Health Week.
The week runs from October 7 until 14 and this year highlights the importance of community and how we go about in our every day lives, mental health starts where we live, learn, work and play.
Collie Family Centre manager Sharon Thompson said they were holding an event to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and to promote looking after yourself.
“It’s just to acknowledge mental health week and we’ve got quite a few agencies coming who deal with a wide variety of things such as mental health, financial crisis and employment,” Ms Thompson said.
“There are Collie agencies and outreach services that come to Collie from Bunbury also attending. We have about 15 agencies all up attending the day.”
She said an event like this was held previously but it didn’t get as many numbers as they hope to get this year.
Along with the agencies there will be kids activities, face painting, a bouncy castle, a sausage sizzle, goodie bags, qigong classes, food and clothing relief on site and help available from the several agencies attending.
