The depleted field last Saturday due to the AFL grand final, together with cold, wet weather did not stop a magnificent round of golf by Rob Cavanagh.
Playing in the morning prior to kick off, Cavanagh played exceptional golf, cruising to a five shot win with his score of 45 stableford points.
Runner-up with a score of 40 points (which would normally win a lot of competitions) was Jim Moyses who kept up his consistent form of late.
Kim Metcalfe enjoyed another good round, finishing third with a great score of 39 points.
Peter Coombs on 37 points and Jan Van Vollenstee, on 36 points played well to round out the vouchers.
Trevor Graham was back in top form, finishing with a great score of 22 points in last Thursday’s nine-hole scroungers competition.
Runner-up, on 20 points was Steve Gianola, followed on 19 points by the trio of Tony Barker-May, Graeme Jackson and Jeff Crowe.
Completing the vouchers, with 18 points apiece were Ed Riley, Mick Pokrywka, Greg White, Rob Cavanagh and Ron Annandale.
Novelties were won by:
No. 1 Fred Bronickis;
No’s 4 and 9 Jay Robinson;
No. 6 Rob Cavanagh;
No. 7 Jim Larsen.
Tiger Jackson, with his 39 off-the-stick won the best gross award.
Graham Williams and Darren O’Brien each returned 41 stableford points in last Tuesday’s leisure day competition with Williams taking first place on a countback from O’Brien.
In third place was Alan Kent on 37 points, as was John Wray, the day’s best vet score.
Kevin Ireland, Phil Warburton and Ed Riley were next with 35 points each, then came Frank Battista, George Newlands and Trevor McCormick, each on 34 points.

This Saturday’s event will be an 18-hole stableford sponsored by B. Banks, M. Pokrywka, E. Annandale and N. Clark.
Scroungers are on again today, Thursday, October 4; and leisure day is on as usual next Tuesday.
