Temporary closure of Lake Towerinning
Lake Towerinning will be closed to skiing on Saturday, October 13 from 2pm for a practice session and all of Sunday, October 14.
This is to enable the WA Speed Boat Club to hold their annual race meeting.
Walking group
The Heart Foundation walking group meets at the CRC on Thursday mornings at 9am.
We walk for 1/2 an hour and then you can have a cuppa. For every fitness level.

CRC AGM coming up
West Arthur CRC members are invited to the AGM at 7pm on October 31 in the Hawthorn Room.
If you cannot attend please return your completed proxy voting form to the CRC before the meeting.
Wednesday social tennis resumes
Social tennis starts again on October 17 at 1pm. All welcome (even if you’ve never hit a ball before or not for a long time).
Racquets available free of charge. Subs are $60 per year or $5 per day.
Child friendly, as we use a buddy system, taking turns to supervise on each other’s children.

Would you like to make some poppies?
The Darkan CWA ladies are looking for volunteers to help knit or crochet poppies.
Greenbushes CWA have put out a call for help to make 5000 poppies for a Poppy Wall for their local RSL by April.
Any help would be appreciated. This will be done at the CWA rooms on October 12, 19 and 26, from 9.30am to 12 noon.
Darkan open garden days
There will be a few open gardens around Darkan on the weekend of October 20 and 21 from 9am - 4pm.
Sat & Sun: Des and Ellen Gooding – 10143 Coalfields Hwy, 2km east of Darkan; Roy and Denise Gooding – Lot 274 Coalfields Hwy, 1km west of Darkan.
Sat only: Robyn Waddell – 42 Hillman St, Darkan.
Devonshire teas available. Admission by donation. Money raised will go to Parkinson’s Western Australia.
Darkan Darts Club wind-up and singles championship
Last weekend the Darkan Darts Club had their wind-up and singles championships. It was a great day with great results.
Singles winner: George Anthony;
Singles runner-up: Lisa Boyce;
Plate winner: Caine Gray;
Plate runner-up: Dave Wright;
Pairs winners: Barry Ugle and Dave Gooding;
Pairs runner-up: Lisa Boyce and Dave Wright.
Other trophies were presented to George Anthony for highest average, Dave Wright for highest aggregate and Ashley Putland for most improved, Vicki Beresford claimed the president’s award.
