YEAR 7 CRICKET
Saturday marked the start of a new season for our Year 7s.
The team comprises three second year players: Lucas Worlley, Oliver McLean and Montana Dallywater; and six new additions: D. Rees, Isabella Dallywater, Cruz McCagh, B. Scott, Tyson Washer and Clarrie Boyle.
Collies’ captain for the week was none other than the veteran McLean, who won the toss for Collie and opted to bowl first.
Opening the bowling was M. Dallywater with an impressive one run over; followed by another one run over by Rees. McCagh took his first ever wicket in the 3rd over with a dramatic run-out (Northrop-4).
The 4th over saw an amazing display of skill and concentration when, not 1, not 2, but a hat-trick wicket haul was had by Worlley (Carter-0, Jones-0 and Jarvis-0).
Dalyellup managed to settle their game and by the end of their 15th over were 4/71. With a chase of 71 in mind McLean and new comer Washer took to the centre to try and match Dalyellups’ challenge.
Unfortunately Washers’ wicket fell to the precise bowling of Skoda in the 3rd over, but not before making his debut four runs.
Next up was Boyle who also scored four before being bowled by Jones. Jones wasn’t finished with Collie and in the same over as dismissing Boyle he also clean bowled Scott with four runs.
Collie were now at the end of the seventh with only five wickets in hand. M. Dallywater took to the field to try and help opener McLean lift Collies’ run rate.
The boys put on a steady show until McLean retired on 35 balls faced (20). I. Dallywater took McLeans’ spot to bat alongside younger brother M. Dallywater.
Unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be and she was dismissed for a duck first ball (Northrop). In the final few overs before end of innings Worlley was dismissed for four, McCagh for 0 and Rees for 0. Half-time: Dalyellup 4/71 v Collie 7/53.
Leading by example captain McLean took the first wicket back with the second ball of the over (Broon 1).
Worlley wasn’t going to settle for only three wickets so in the 23rd over he dismissed Bosman (37) with a caught and bowled to take his haul to 4! Collies’ first travelling female cricketer I.
Dallywater showed she was a force to be reckoned with when she clean bowled Davis (9). Collie had one more wicket to take and with the sharp eyes and swift hands of Washer (caught behind off the fantastic bowling of Scott) Dalyellup was dismissed in their 26th over with a run total of 134.
M. Dallywater and McLean took on the challenge of 123 runs needed, set by Dalyellup. With hard running, well striking of the ball and taking every run opportunity, McLean brought up his first well deserved 50. By this stage the rest of the team and the sideline supporters were on the edge of their seats as they saw the boys pull off a miracle upset.
M. Dallywater continue striking the ball well, even hitting an impressive 6 just before seeing in his first ever 50. The boys saw out their partnership of 125 with McLean finishing on 69 and M. Dallywater 60 not out. Collie finished 7/175 to Dalyellups’ 8/134.
YEAR 9 CRICKET
On Sunday, October 28, the Year 9 team travelled down to Leschenault for their first game of the season.
Collie won the toss and decided to bowl first on a pitch that looked bowler friendly. The decision paid off early with openers Jackson Broadbent (4 overs 1/3) and Judd Rinder (4 overs 2/4) getting things off to a good start.
Rinder picked up the first two bowled, then Broadbent followed with another bowled to have the score 3/5.
Zak Reuben (4 overs 0/6) and Adam Worlley (4 overs 3/4) also bowled in great areas and when Worlley picked up a couple of quick wickets, one bowled and one caught by Broadbent, Leschenault were 5/18.
Josh Elliott (2 overs 1/7) then come on with his new leg spinning action and picked up the next wicket stumped by Max Ireland.
When Worlley picked up his third wicket, bowled, the score was 7/24. Blake Rees bowled 2 overs 0/4, then Baxter Miller (2 overs 1/0) got the eighth wicket bowled with the score on 37.
Blayden Coverley (2 overs 1/3) got a wicket bowled then Liam Wilson (0.4 overs 1/0) finished the innings with a wicket caught by Blake Rees. Leschenault were all out for 37.
Robbie Chitty and Josh Elliott got things off to a solid start with the bat and put on 27, before Elliott was out for 17. Adam Worlley went in at three and got the scoreboard ticking over while Chitty remained solid at the other end. The pair put on 33 before Worlley was out for 22 and the score 2/60.
Judd Rinder was next out for 0 then Max Ireland joined Chitty for another 26-run partnership. Chitty was next out for his highest score of 23 and the score 4/86. Chitty was given a task of simply batting as long as he could in this 50 over game and batted for 25 overs in a job well done. Ireland was next out for 12, then Jackson Broadbent made 1 and Collie were 6/94.
Baxter Miller was looking solid before he was next out for 7 then Blayden Coverley (3), Liam Wilson (5) and Blake Rees (0) all fell to have Collie all out for 125. Zak Reuben was not out 3. Collie won by 88 runs.
B-GRADE CRICKET
COLLIE took on Marist in the first B-grade home game for the year at Roche Park.
With the clubrooms and facilities having been upgraded over the off-season, the Collie team was keen to play as good as the clubrooms now looked.
The day started well with Collie winning the toss and electing to bat.
Young openers Bailey Moloney and Brayden Kent started well for Collie until Bailey was caught out for 12.
Kent went soon after just a few short of his 50 to make it 2-79.
Mark Williams looked elegant with the bat as usual and was combining with Seth White well, until he was caught at mid off trying to get on the offensive.
Seth White left soon after being caught in front for two.
Liam Reuben and captain Greg Tomasini steadied the ship until Reuben missed a straight one.
The hard hitting Matt Tanner tried to hang around until he was caught trying to clear the fence as usual.
Kyle Hulls was on the receiving end of some horrid luck.
He was run-out at the non-strikers end after the bowler got a hand on a straight drive without facing a ball.
BEST BATSMEN:
Brayden Kent 46, Greg Tomasini 38 and Liam Reuben 14.
Collie started perfectly with the ball.
Steve Ireland and Jason Borrett were accurate with the ball and had Marist reeling at 3-21 in no time.
Marist rallied with some great hitting in their middle order and looked on top at 3-92 but three quick wickets off the back of some tight bowling by Brayden Kent and Mark Williams.
The pressure was kept on by the Collie bowlers and wickets fell regularly to keep Marist to a total of 126 giving Collie a 46-run win.
BEST BOWLERS:
Steve Ireland 3 for 14, Brayden Kent 3 for 35 and Mark Williams 3 for 41.
MAN OF THE MATCH:
Brayden Kent.
C-GRADE CRICKET
Collie V Marist: Collie won the toss and elected to bat first as there was a few sore heads from the Collie races. J. Shepherd and A. Hutt opened the batting. L. McCormick came in but fell for 1, then Sutherland (12) was given LBW in the 42nd over; he did a great job of holding up his end and pushing singles to get his partners on strike.
M. Reuben(11) ran out on the last ball and A. Parkin (24) not out came in and boosted Collies’ runs in the last three overs to bring Collies total to 10/156 off 45 overs.

A few chances went begging with dropped catches but the lads made up with it with superb throwing, as Sidhu ran-out their captain. J.
Shepherd got the ball to move and was rewarded with a LBW and two balls later he rattled the stumps. R. Chappell bowled a cracker to confuse the batter and bowled him.
