It has been a busy week at the Collie Bowling Club with a variety of competitions and events
It was a great Melbourne Cup Day celebration at the Collie Bowling Club last week as visitors and bowlers enjoyed a day of bowls and a hearty lunch.
Betta Living winners were Tom Gale and Karina Snow with Ray Colgan and Margaret Young and Graeme Old and Neil Roberts equal second.
The Henderson Hardware second round winners were Graeme Carter and John Bell with Graeme Old and Kath McElroy runners-up.
PINE HAULIERS MEAT PACK – November 7
Another good roll up of mixed bowlers attended the meat pack last week and the standout winners were Tom Edwards and Don Burgess with 4 points plus 20.
Second was Jim Tyler and Ian Bushell with 3 points plus 4 followed by Ray Colgan and Les McCamish with 2 points plus 12.
MEN’S SATURDAY PENNANTS – November 10
Collie Division 1 were home to Eaton and had a good win while Division 2 went down the hill to Bunbury and lost the aggregate by four shots.
Div 1 – Collie 6 points, 65 aggregate, defeated Eaton 0 points, 43 aggregate.
G Keep, G Carter, R Ferris, B Butcher won 25 to 10; Ross White, A Collins, G Old, W Stocks won 20 to 15; T Edwards, J McElroy, B Bass, R Colgan won 20 to 17.
Div 2 – Collie 1 point, 61 aggregate, lost to Bunbury 5 points, 65 aggregate.
K McKenzie, R Garner, L McCamish, V Brojanowski lost 16 to 29; R Guilfoyle, S Matthews, I Corley, L Flynn won 26 to 16; M Mellor, J Tyler, H Wiggers, J Bell lost 19 to 20.
McCAFE SCROUNGERS – November 11
Good bowls was played on Sunday with a minute of silence observed at 11 o'clock for Remembrance Day. Into the grand final went Max Cubic, Ray Colgan, Vicki Daniel and Kerry Scott.
Kerry Scott took top spot with Vicki Daniel second, then came Ray Colgan and Max Cubic. Highest score was Max Cubic with the consolation to Penny Valli.
VISITORS – November 12
Thank you to Rebecca for bringing the high school students to the bowling club to learn to play bowls. Also thank you to Barry Lowe and Graeme Carter for their assistance to the students.
Also at the club for a day of bowls were the Disabilities, which filled up the green with their carers who joined in as all enjoyed the morning. Thank you to Ian Corley and Kevin McKenzie who also assisted on the day.

MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP PAIRS
A reminder to all men in the club the championship pairs will be played on Sunday, November 18 and Sunday, November 25.Nominations closed this Friday at 5pm so get your teams in.
LADIES BOWLS
The ladies continue with their championship singles competition this Thursday and will finish on Thursday, November 22.
