C-grade
Collie has moved eight points above the rest of the field in the Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association C grade competition, to be on top of the ladder with four wins in a row.
On Saturday Collie captain Jarved Dallywater won the toss and sent Hay Park in to bat as the home side had a very strong bowling line up.
Luke McCormick opened the bowling and struck five bowls later as the batsman edged it to S Fraser in slips.
Jason Borrett started well with a maiden over but when a young 15 year old came in, it put Borrett off his mark.
Steven Fraser came on and was on the mark from first ball, claiming an LBW.
Dale Elvin partnered with Fraser for a lethal attack as they bowled their overs with Elvin taking four wickets.
Gagan Sidhu was at his best yet again, taking another three and was even on a hat-trick at one stage. Adam Johnson bowled a tight last couple of overs. Collie bowled Hay Park out for 9/134 in 34 overs.
Bowling: J Borrett 4 overs 0/19, L McCormick 6 overs 1/22, J Fraser 9 overs 2/33, D Elvin 9 overs 4/34, G Sidhu 4.3 overs 3/21, A Johnson 2 overs 0/5.
Catches: S Fraser 1, J Dallywater 2, G Sidhu 1.
Dallywater and Anthony Hutt opened the batting for Collie until Dallywater (8) was bowled.
Connor Mumme (4) and Matthew Reuben (3) also went cheap and Collie was 3/51 at the 10th over.
Hutt and Sidhu stood solid as Hay Park’s quicks fired everything at them.
Hutt found the boundary with ease, hitting nine fours and a six while bringing up his 50, and the two put on a 77-run partnership until Sidhu was stumped with only seven runs required.
Johnson came to the crease and hit the winning runs in the 24th over to finish 2no. Hutt hit a superb knock of 75 not out.
Collie will take on Leschenault at Roche Park on Saturday starting at 1pm.
Year 9
Collie travelled down to play Dallyelup and were first to take to the bat.
Josh Elliott and Robbie Chitty opened the innings with Elliott first out for two runs with the score on 17.
Adam Worlley was in next and added nine runs before he was out with the score on 2/31.
Max Ireland then joined Chitty and the pair put on a solid 38-run partnership before Chitty was out for a well made 30, and a new highest score for him.
Zak Reuben was next in and put on another 20 with Ireland, before Max was out for 26 and the score was on 4/89.
Collie then lost its way and wickets started falling quickly.
Jackson Broadbent (0), Blayden Coverley (1), Zak Reuben (8), Liam Wilson (0) all fell cheaply and Collie had fallen to 8/93.
Newcomer Jack Wiliams did his best to hang around and when he fell for one run it was 9/101.
With the team only having nine players, Jackson Broadbent and Liam Wilson went back in and Broadbent made 6no before Wilson was last out for no runs and Collie was all out for 108.
Jackson Broadbent and Zak Reuben opened the bowling, followed by Max Ireland and Adam Worlley.
All bowled tightly and were backed up well in the field considering the team only had nine players.
Reuben picked up the first wicket with the score on eight, then Ireland and Worlley both picked up wickets, also bowled, and after 16 overs, Dallyelup had been restricted to 3/25.
Broadbent and Reuben only conceded six runs each in four overs, Ireland two runs in four overs and Worlley five runs in four overs.
Jack Williams went on for his first bowl in cricket and bowled one over for 0/12.
Liam Wilson bowled three overs for 0/12, Josh Elliot had three overs for 0/11 and Blayden Coverley had one over for 0/6.
Robbie Chitty then went on and hit the stumps to break a 40-run partnership and have the score at 4/58.
When Chitty hit the stumps again it was 5/63, then took another wicket, caught by Worlley at 6/76, Collie were back in the game.
Chitty finished with four overs for 3/11, then it was over to Reuben, Worlley and Broadbent to get the job finished.
It was Reuben who did the damage picking up the next three wickets - one bowled, one caught by Liam Wilson and one caught by Worlley – to have the score at 9/79.
Reuben finished on a hat trick with the figures of six overs at 4/7.
Worlley finished on five overs for 1/7 and then Broadbent sealed the game by hitting the stumps, finishing with six overs for 1/10.
Collie finished the game with a win by 23 runs.
Thanks to Odinn Kirk who was watching the game and went on after drinks to help out in the field.
Year 7
Collie hosted Leschenault at Wallsend on Saturday in the year 7 cricket competition.
Captain Montana Dallywater won the toss and elected to bat first. It was a shaky start for Collie with only Oliver McLean making 23 not out and Lucas Worlley 25. The two batted well, making up 48 of Collies’ final run total of 70.
Collie’s batting let them down but on a positive note their bowling was well improved as they managed to halve the sundries count this week. Worlley managed to run out the first batsman in the first over.
Next was Cruz McCagh who took a beautiful one-handed catch off of Tyson Washer’s bowling to keep Collie’s spirits up. Clarrie Boyle and Dylan Rees both bowled good spells taking two wickets each for the day.
Blair Scott and Isabella Dallywater both complemented each other well, taking catches off of one another’s bowling. Oliver McLean also took a great catch.
Collie had Leschenault all out for 108 on the 27th over.
