Graham Williams won Saturday’s club sponsored 18-hole stableford event at the Collie golf course. His score of 41 points was mainly due, albeit unusually, to his putter.
In good touch lately, Steve Gianola was runner up with 39 points, on a count back from Chris Mead, in third place. Mead junior, Ben, was next with 38 points, on a count back from Ian Annandale.
Alone on 37 points was the consistent Greg Bell, followed by John Michalak, Joe Italiano and Denis Cocker, each on 36 . Rounding out the vouchers, with 35 points were Ed Riley, Neil Motion and John Williamson.
A highlight of the day’s play was an eagle three on the par five first hole achieved by Jason Mumme, a feat wildly applauded by the crowd at presentations.
Vicki Graham again completed a good round of golf, winning the ladies event with a score of 33 points.
Novelty winners: Nearest the pins – David Laird (4), Chris Mead (7) and Greg Bell (14); Longest first putts – Jim Moyses (6), Bruce Roberts (9) and Denis Cocker (18); Long drive on No.15 – Chris Mead.
In a good field of 52 players in last Thursday’s nine-hole scroungers event, head scrounger Ed Riley blitzed the field with a good score of 23 stableford points.
Three players scored 21 points to be next best in the field. By way of a spin, Graham Williams finished runner-up from Hugh Annandale and Brad Swan. Clive Pullan was next with 20 points, followed by Tony Barker-May and Neil McDonald, each with 19.
Completing the vouchers, each returning 18 points were Greg Bell, Troy Briggs, John Wray, John Michalak, John Williamson, Dean Rakich and Greg White.
Novelties went to Dean Rakich (4), Steve Gianola (6) and Ian Stewart (9). Graeme Jackson had best gross score, shooting 39 off the stick.
Eric Annandale won last Tuesday’s 18 hole leisure day stableford with 39 points and unner-up, on a count back was John Wray. They finished one shot ahead of Denis Cocker and Troy Briggs who scored 38. Dave Farr won the day’s best vet award with 38 points. Peter Coombs and Steve Gianola completed the vouchers with returns of 37 points.
Novelty winners were Troy Briggs (4), Trevor McCormick (7), Frank Battista (9), Brad Swan (14) and Roger Hunter (18).
Saturday’s event is an 18 hole stableford, sponsored by Jim and Bev Moyses. Summer Open nomination forms are available in the clubhouse and online. The first nine and dine for the summer season will be held this Sunday. Scroungers today and leisure day on Tuesday.
