Collie was well-represented at the under 25 national darts championships in Perth earlier this month, with seven local players representing the state.
Connor Stallard, Trevor Turvey, Aiden Wallis, Dion Cashmore, Josh Franks, Milton Northover and Boston Turvey all made the trip to Perth for the tournament.
Although the results didn’t go their way, all of the players said they were happy with their performance.
The pick of the players were Stallard, who had the second-highest average of 17.5 points per dart in division two, Boston Turvey, who was runner-up in the division two men’s doubles and Franks, who was runner-up in the mixed triples.
Franks said it was a great experience to take part in the tournament, and that he was looking forward to next year’s tournament in Sydney.
“It was a great week… it was a little disappointing that only Victoria sent a team, but it was still tough competition,” he said.
The tournament showed the strength of the local darts competition, with Collie making up seven of the 56 players competing at the tournament.
Cashmore said the team were thankful for the help of their mentor Lee Chapman, as well as James Clarke and the Ridge Darts Club for their support during training.
