A Collie man has been granted a spent conviction in the Collie Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to possessing cannabis.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Greg Ward told the court police had pulled the man over in Telfer Crescent on October 7 and found he had 28 grams of cannabis in his vehicle.
Sergeant Ward said the man had told police at the time that he had found the cannabis in the bush and had decided to take it with him.

The court heard the man had no previous drug-related convictions, which Magistrate Evan Shackleton said convinced him the man ‘was of good character’ and ‘would not commit a similar offence’.
As a result, Mr Shackleton decided to grant a spent conviction for the offence along with an $800 fine.
