Seniors Week
Seniors in West Arthur had the opportunity to go to the Featured Wood Gallery and Museum in Australind thanks to a grant for Seniors Week supported by the Department of Communities, Lotterywest and COTA WA.
The bus trip also included lunch at a local café and even a little bit of shopping time.
Participants raved about the wonderful day and thoroughly recommended the gallery as a place to visit.
Works and Projects
Maintenance graders will be working in the south east and south west sections of the Shire over the next week.
Farrell Road culvert works have been completed while a section of Boyup Brook Arthur Road is being reconstructed near Clarke Road.
Other works currently happening include preparation of the car park in order to seal it, opposite the Darkan Hall, and the back lane, behind the businesses in Burrowes Street.
Funding for Solar Power for Community Buildings
Through their Federal Member, Rick Wilson, the Shire of West Arthur has received funding approval for $9,145 from the Stronger Communities Programme towards the installation of solar power on the West Arthur Health and Resource Centre and the Darkan Sport and Community Centre.
The funding represents 50 per cent of the total project cost.

Installation will take place in early 2019.
