Collie Police have charged a 26-year-old Collie man after he allegedly assaulted a police officer who was attempting to arrest him for breaching a police order.
Senior Sergeant Heath Soutar said police were called to respond to a disturbance at a property in Coombes Street on November 22 where they issued a police order, temporarily banning the man from being in the vicinity of the property.
Later that same day, police received a report the man had allegedly returned to the property and was causing a disturbance.
Senior Sergeant Soutar said police arrived and attempted to arrest the man for breaching the police order and causing a public disturbance when he allegedly ‘pushed the officer with two hands to the chest’.
After pushing the officer, the man allegedly attempted to run away and taunted police by shouting “You can’t catch me”.
Senior Sergeant Soutar said the man was apprehended later that day and charged with breaching a police order, disorderly behaviour and assaulting a police officer.
Police are also calling for information about a break-in at Reuben’s Newsagency on Forrest Street in the early hours of Friday morning.
Senior Sergeant Soutar said CCTV footage had captured a single offender break in to the shop at 4.30am on November 23.
He said the offender forced the front door and stole a number of items, worth approximately $9000.
Senior Sergeant Soutar said some of the items have since turned up in Waroona and police are working to get CCTV from Waroona to identify the person involved.
Collie Police have also released CCTV images of the offender in attempt to identify the man.
The images show a man wearing black pants, a black hoody, black gloves and a dark baseball cap with a light-coloured bill. He also left the store carrying a blue bag.
Police are also investigating after approximately $9000 worth of specialist equipment was stolen from a Parks and Wildlife Service work site near Hamilton Bridge in Worsley.
Senior Sergeant Soutar said the offender had taken a compactor and water pumps from the site between November 19 and 20.
He also said due to the size of the items taken, it was possible the offender used a flat-bed truck during the theft.

He said police were also investigating an animal cruelty incident in Allanson on November 22. Police received a report that a man had been gathering his sheep for shearing when he found one of his rams had been shot in the head at the McAvoy Road property.
Senior Sergeant Soutar said it appeared the ram had been shot with a rifle and died shortly after police were called.
Police are also calling for witnesses after two suspicious fires were lit in the past two weeks. On November 20 at 4.15pm, a small fire was deliberately lit in bushland opposite the Harris River Estate on Harris River Road before another suspicious fire was lit in bushland on Vernon Road near Lyalls Mill at 1.30pm on November 26.
Finally, police are also looking for information after the Collie Hockey Club clubrooms on Preston Road were broken into overnight between November 26 and 27.
Senior Sergeant Soutar said it was a ‘real shame’ that the club had been targeted, with the clubrooms ransacked.
