Collie fall short in top of the table clash
Donnybrook came to town to take on Collie in the B-grade BDCA cricket competition.
The game was a top of the table clash with Donnybrook sitting on top and Collie in second place on the ladder.
It started with Collie winning the toss and batting on a well prepared pitch. The innings started steady but well with openers Brayden Kent and Bailey Moloney getting Collie’s total passed 50 without loss.
Moloney then fell with the Collie score on 69 and Mark Williams strode to the crease and kept Collie on the front foot and helped Kent passed 50.
Williams was caught LBW for 15 which brought young Austin Kent to the crease with his big brother.
With Collie looking on top and threatening to make well over 200, a batting collapse happened and Collie went from 3 for 140 to all out for 191 with only Greg Tomasini (27) and Jason Borrett (10) getting into double figures from the last 8 batsmen.
Best batsmen: B Kent 76, B Moloney 28, G Tomasini 27.
Donnybrook went out to bat with a wet sail and their opener, Manea began hitting sixes at will, clearing the fence by a long way.
When Collie managed to get the powerful hitting Manea out the Donnybrook total was 2 for 86 after 12 overs.
Collie desperately needed some quick wickets to get into the Donnybrook middle order but Donnybrook only lost another two wickets and got to the Collie total within 32 overs.
The loss puts a game between the two teams on the ladder and Collie will be looking to bounce back with another home game against Capel this Saturday.

Then in the 13th over Blair Scott struck, taking another of Leschenault’s wickets.

It wasn’t until the 10th over that Collie’s second wicket fell, with Hanns (11) being clean bowled.
Collie continued to bat well until the end of the 15th over which saw them better Leschenault’s score of 50 by nine runs.
Rees batted superbly retiring at 35 balls faced and hitting 4 fours, taking his total to 26 not-out. Worlley was 9 not-out.
As the rain came in, the game was called off with Leschenault on 50 and Collie on 59, granting Collie victory.

Collie vs Leschenault
Collie played Leschenault at Roche Park, winning the toss and choosing to bat.
Collie were in trouble early at 4/12 with Zak Reuben, Jackson Broadbent, Liam Wilson and Judd Rinder all making ducks. Josh Elliott went next for 5 and it was 5/27.
Adam Worlley and Blayden Coverley then started to steady the ship with a 25-run partnership and it was Coverley doing the scoring, making 18 before he was out and the score 6/52.
Max Ireland then joined Worlley and the pair batted well together putting on a 50-run partnership. Worlley was out for a hard fought 34 and the score 7/102.
Jack Williams made 1, Robbie Chitty 6 and although Heidi Ireland didn’t make a run, it was great to see her have the confidence to go out and bat.
Max Ireland was not out for a well made 22 and Collie all out for 127. A great fight back from 4/12 and 5/27.
Openers Judd Rinder (4 overs 0/4) and Robbie Chitty (4 overs 1/8) both bowled very well to start the innings.
Blayden Coverley (4 overs 0/13) also bowled very well without luck, as did Max Ireland (3 overs 0/8) and Liam Wilson (3 overs 0/11).
First year player Jack Williams (3 overs 1/12) then picked up another unlikely wicket, just like the previous week and got Leschenault’s best batsman out. Good reward for a great attitude to learn.
Josh Elliott, who continues to work on his leg spinners picked up two wickets and finished 4 overs 2/16.
Jackson Broadbent (4 overs 1/2) bowled very well, then it was over to young star Heidi Ireland.
Heidi got two wickets in an over, one stumped by brother Max, and finished with 2 overs 2/7.
Adam Worlley (2 overs 0/4) and Zak Reuben (2 overs 0/5) bowled well and Leschenault finished 8/90.
Collie won by 37 runs.
