The Collie Police Community and Youth Centre recently held the first ever StreetGym FreeG competition in the state.
The competition held on Sunday, November 25 was open to all Gymnastics Australia children aged between six – 16 and was judged by Michelle Ranieri.
A total of 22 gymnasts competed on the day between three levels, beginners, intermediate and advanced.
Collie PCYC gymnastics coach Kristy Milne said they wanted to do the competition to give their street gym participants an opportunity to show their skills and see where they sit among other competitors.
“We wanted to give these kids an opportunity to showcase their amazing talent,” she said.
From the feedback we received we will be making it an annual event.

“They did three runs including a skill run which was judged on their actual ability to do the skills. We had a speed run which included getting from point a to point b as fast as possible and then we had a team run which included teamwork. This process looks like it will be utilised in further competitions.”
