Last Friday evening provided a fine double for the Wayne Justins-trained pair Gunna Get Lucky and Pradas Ideal Dahling, both driven by Michael Grantham.
Gunna Get Lucky sat in the one out one back position throughout the race with Grantham making a well timed run to gather in the leaders in the shadows of the post. Her $8.80 dividend was very welcome for the connections.
Newcomer Pradas Ideal Dahling, having his first run in the state after travelling from New Zealand was a well tried $4.80 shot before winning the start and simply outclassing his rivals, careering away for a 25-metre win in a very smart mile rate of 1.55.6.
Trent Wheeler also had a good night, scoring on the $1.50 favourite Sammys Ideal for Michael Callegari after going to the front in the middle stages and holding out the opposition.
He also ran second on Dale Jackson’s Watch Me React and thirds behind Captain Proud for Kym Neal and Faiselle for Terry Ferguson.
This followed a great night out for him in Narrogin the previous Friday where he faced the breeze on $2.90 favourite Watch Me React, before proving too strong and relegating the early leader Dollars and Cents to third place for Brian Wheeler.
He then ran third in the stand for Gerard Paganoni with Disco Under Fire before restoring his family standing by leading all the way with his dad’s gelding McKinley who started a well backed $4.90 shot before finishing the night with a second on Graham Waters Avivo who ran a further second in Pinjarra last Monday.
Bianca Ashcroft engaged Ashleigh Markham for third placed Triple Brie in the last at Narrogin.
Several Collie pacers will be at Sunday afternoon’s Wagin programme which heralds the start of the Community Club circuit in Busselton, Williams, Bridgetown and Collie over the next three months.
