It’s our favourite time of the week – a step back in time to reflect on the changes in our region, the faces and the fun that was being had during the month of August all the way back in 1996.
There was a lot going on around the Collie region at the time.
Collie was in clean-up mode after heavy rains and winds wreaked havoc, knocking over trees and power poles, and pulling roofs off houses.
The heavy rains filled up the local dams, with local photographers capturing stunning photos of the Wellington Weir overflowing, but it also caused concern as Collie’s sewerage system struggled to cope with the demand.
On a brighter note, the Italian consul, Dr Barbara Bregato-Bonafini was in town to celebrate the opening of the Italian Club’s new premises.
What do you remember about the month?
