It’s our favourite time of the week – a step back in time to reflect on the changes in our region, the faces and the fun that was being had during the month of September all the way back in 1996.
There was a lot going on around the Collie region at the time.
The Collie River Rowing Club was left reeling after vandals caused upwards of $15,000 worth of damage to the club’s boats.
There was also concern about the Coalfields Highway, with a lack of agreement between the shire council and Western Collieries about how the road should be realigned to accommodate the growth of the Premier mine.
On a brighter note, September also saw Collie host a stage of the first leg of the Rally Australia race, with some of the world’s best rally drivers racing through the region.
What do you remember about the month?
