It’s our favourite time of the week – a step back in time to reflect on the changes in our region, the faces and the fun that was being had during the month of October all the way back in 1996.
There was a lot going on around the Collie region at the time.
Collie welcomed three new police to town after the state government announced it would increase the police force by 500 new officers.
Griffon Coal’s Ewington II mine officially opened.
Collie boxer Darrell Tuckey won the 1996 Schoolboys Champion gold medal in the 57 kilogram division in Melbourne.
The South West Football League also saw the Magpies win their first premiership in 18 years against the Eagles.
What do you remember about the month?
