It’s our favourite time of the week – a step back in time to reflect on the changes in our region, the faces and the fun that was being had during the month of October all the way back in 1998.
There was a lot going on around the Collie region at the time.
Collie Catholic College was in a race against time to get the school’s oval ready for the athletics carnival after it was vandalised, with a vehicle tearing up grass on the playing surface.
The month also saw Wilson Tuckey reelected as the member for O’Connor at the federal election, beating out eight other candidates.
Police were also on patrol after they received two reports of attempted abduction of children on Collie’s streets.
On a positive note, the Collie Saints reserve team proved too strong for the competition as it took out the SWFL grand final for the first time in 15 years with a 23-point victory over Busselton.
What do you remember about the month?
