In perfect conditions a great field of 58 golfers or 29 pairs played in the totally mixed Four-ball-best-ball (4BBB) stableford for the Bluewaters-sponsored day.
In a first for the club, five pairs were tied all on 45 points with countbacks needed to sort out the placings.
The cream rose to the top with Doug Crowe and Brian Banks saluting the judge in first place with their superior back nine giving the duo the win.
Brad Swan and Trevor Graham teamed up to take the second place trophy and the unlucky pairings of Ed Riley and Jim Larsen, Tom Chappell and John Michalak, and Eric Annandale and Ron Annandale all had to settle for vouchers and ponder after missing a putt here or there that would of secured a win for them.
Rob Cavanagh and Kim Metcalfe were next in on 44, followed by Mick Jack and Dave Farr also on 44.
John Wray and Phil Warburton headed the 43 contingent from Colin Giblett and Bunbury visitor Jerry Giankulos, Peter Ellery and Rod Simmonds and Jan and Debbie VanVollenstee.
The novelties winners were:
No. 4 – Colin Giblett and Jodie Allison;
No. 6 – Ray Cooper;
No. 7 – Jim Tyler;
No. 9 – Ray Alp;
No. 14 – Brad Swan;
No. 15 – Tom Chappell;
No. 18 – Ray Cooper.
Tuesday leisure day
On Tuesday a great field of 43 rocked up to play the leisure day event and with more than 40 players, this meant a carton was up for grabs for the winner.
This did not go unnoticed by the winner Roger Hunter who won by the barest of margins with 38.
Trevor McCormick had to settle for second spot with 37 from Kim Metcalfe 36, Graham Williams, Jim Moyses and Jarrod Miller all on 35.
The best vet on the day went to Phil Warburton with 37 points.
Thursday scroungers
Thursday scroungers saw a close encounter with scoring down a little compared to last week.
Dave Farr was at his best posting 21 to be well clear of David Broadbent on 19.
Brian Banks, Dennis Cocker, Ed Riley and John Suckling rounded the vouchers out with 18.
Vicki Graham played an impressive round also to score 21 and win the ladies.
Next week
Saturday – 18-hole par for Club Trophy; Tuesday – Leisure day; and Thursday – scroungers.
