The Collie Mineworkers Memorial Pool’s aqua aerobics program has returned for 2019 with a new instructor at the helm.
Danielle Pesci said she was nervous before leading her first class but has thoroughly enjoyed the experience so far.
She also said she was glad to see that there had been participants from a wide range of ages in the classes despite the misconception of aqua aerobics as an ‘old person’s activity’.
“We’ve had a really good spread of ages so far, so its good to break that stigma,” she said.
“It’s not just for old people. It’s low impact, so it’s really good for anyone who doesn’t like to run and get sweaty.”
Pool manager Maurice Dhue said the pool had added evening programs to its existing morning sessions, which had been a success so far.
He also said the pool was also looking to introduce Saturday morning classes if there was enough interest.
The pool runs sessions on Wednesday and Friday mornings as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with both deep and shallow water sessions available.
