O’Connor MP Rick Wilson is encouraging regional students to apply for a government-funded scholarship to study a science, technology, engineering or mathematics course.
The number of scholarships available through the Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarships program has increased and applications are now open.
“Scholarships of up to $18,000 are available to help students with the costs of studying STEM at university or a Vocational Education and Training institution,” Mr Wilson said.
“One of these scholarships could help a promising student realise their potential and get a STEM education that will open a world of future possibilities.
“New guidelines will also make it easier for drought-affected students to apply, including families receiving the Farm Household Allowance.”
The Federal Government has committed $58.1 million for more than 3,150 scholarships for regional students.
The first round of the program helped 504 students to start their studies in 2018.
Applications close on Friday, February 1 and offers will be made on February 11.
