Raising awareness for youth mental health issues, particularly for those in regional communities, will be on the agenda at Sheepfest in Darkan next month.
One of the key attractions of the country show will be the ‘Dunk for Dolly’ dunk tank which will be held to raise money for the charity Dolly’s Dream, in honour of Amy ‘Dolly’ Everett.
Darkan Sheepfest committee member Pam Shockley said it was an obvious choice to support the youth mental health charity.
“Last year Darkan Sheepfest raised a considerable amount of money for Black Dog Ride but more importantly it created a high level of awareness for their organisation on the actual day,” she said.
“Given our focus this year was to engage youth more at our show, it made sense to have a charity that had a focus on youth mental health.
“It was unanimous that Dolly’s Dream was just the right one.”
Darkan Sheepfest will provide a range of activities for children and adults on Saturday, February 9, with entry costing a gold coin donation.
