It’s our favourite time of the week – a step back in time to reflect on the changes in our region, the faces and the fun that was being had during the month of November all the way back in 1998.
There was a lot going on around the Collie region at the time.
Concerns about the future employment of Collie’s youth were high after Griffin Coal decided not to take on any new apprentices for the second straight year.
Then Collie Shire councillor Mick Murray challenged Collie’s businesses to be more supportive of plans to improve Collie’s tourism potential.
The month was also capped off with the sportsperson of the year awards, with superules player Gary Winterton claiming the JL Mumme medal and golfer Scott Hunter taking out the junior sportsperson award.
What do you remember about the month?
