It’s our favourite time of the week – a step back in time to reflect on the changes in our region, the faces and the fun that was being had during the month of December all the way back in 1996.
There was a lot going on around the Collie region at the time.
With Christmas just around the corner, the Christmas Pageant and the Cheerio Club Christmas lunch were back bigger and better than ever before, while the toy run – which still continues to this day – was introduced.
It was also the end of the school year, with all of Collie’s schools celebrating their students’ achievements.
The state went to an election, with incumbent Hilda Turnbull retaining the seat of Collie against Mick Murray.
Business owners on Throssell Street were angered when the shire renumbered properties along the street without warning, leaving them unusable stationery containing their old addresses.
What do you remember about the month?
