Collie’s long-awaited dog agility park is close to opening, with the equipment ready to be installed.
Shire of Collie chief executive officer David Blurton said preparatory works at Timber Park had been completed and equipment would be installed next week.
He also said signage for the park had been ordered and ‘should be ready shortly’.
Back in October, Mr Blurton said the shire had received the agility equipment and that it had been assembled off-site in order to be installed.
The shire originally received a $3000 grant in 2017 from the Keep Australia Pet Friendly campaign in order to help fund the dog agility park.
The grant program called for the installation of six to eight pieces of dog agility equipment, to help with exercising and socialising pets.
Timber Park, located opposite the Wallsend Ground, was chosen for the location of the park due to being under-utilised and not backing on to any residential properties, although there are residential properties located across the street.
The park will not be fenced, with the equipment designed to be used by dogs on-lead, although Mr Blurton said in October that shire rangers would monitor the park and determine whether fencing was needed in the future.
