Collie recorded its coldest January day in more than 15 years last month.
The mercury barely reached 18.4 degrees on Wednesday, January 23, the coldest January day recorded in Collie since a maximum of 17.9 degrees was reached on January 5, 2004.
It was also the first January day to not reach 20 degrees in eight years, with the previous sub-20 degree day being January 24, 2011.
Despite the historically cold day, January 2019 ended up being just 0.2 degrees colder per day than the average January since climate data began being collected at the Collie East weather station in 2002.
For the month, Collie recorded an average maximum temperature of 30.6 degrees, with the warmest day being the 40.5 degrees recorded on Sunday, January 20, the day of the Allanson bushfire.
That day was the equal warmest day in Collie since January 2015.
Across the month Collie also recorded 7.6 mm of rainfall. There were just two rainy days, with 1.8mm falling on January 23 and 5.8mm on January 24.
