The Collie Veteran Car Club made a generous donation to the Collie Police Community and Youth Centre recently, which will go towards feeding Collie’s youth.
Collie Police Community and Youth Centre Linda said the donation they received would go towards feeding the children in their programs.
"Within our Friday night and Wednesday night programs we do feed the kids. It's a massive need within the town. A lot of kids are not getting enough food,” she said.
The program, Project Kitchen, first introduced in 2017, not only feeds children, but it also teaches them to cook healthy and nutritious food.
Collie Veteran Car Club member John Rexworthy said they were pleased to be able to give back.
"They (the PCYC) just need money to keep going and to support the youth. They’re the future generation and we should try and look after them,” he said.
The car club was able to kindly make the donation due to collecting used car batteries and then selling them to make a profit.
"We do it to raise money for the club and also for the community. We collect the batteries off of the community so we like to give something back, like a donation back to different community groups and organisations,” he said.
"Previously, we made a donation to ValleyView, and also to the Collie Motorplex.
"We also do other things in the community throughout the year, like taking residents from ValleyView in our old cars to see the Christmas lights and helping The Smith Family delivering gifts to children in need.”
