Premier Coal has signed on the naming rights for the next three years for the Collie Junior Adventure Race.

The event hosted by the Collie Rotary Club is held in October annually at Minninup Pool.

Along with the long and short-courses there are also races specifically for children aged 12 or below.

Previously, Premier Coal sponsored the junior race year to year, but they are now giving the junior event guaranteed sponsorship over a longer period of time.

Premier Coal health and safety and community superintendent Zee Rijkuris said the race is a real long standing thing for the community.

"We wanted to support the race for the next three years, and beyond that, potentially we will see,” he said.

“We are keen to see this race succeed. As it is a multi-day event it brings in so much business and tourism to the town and this race really showcases the natural attributes of Collie.”

Collie Rotary Club Adventure Race director Geoff Blackford said it was important that they secure funding to keep the race going.

“The kids do a run, cycle, run race and it’s just great to see them involved,” he said.

Other sponsors include South32, Bendigo Bank and the Shire of Collie.
