Year 9s
Collie played Colts down at the recreation ground last Saturday, February 23, winning the toss and batting first.
Openers Adam Worlley (4) and Josh Elliott (2) went early, and at 2/10 Max Ireland and Zak Reuben were at the crease together.
The pair batted really well together, rotating the strike and putting the bad balls away.
When Ireland brought up a well made 50 not out, the pair had added a 104-run partnership.
Robbie Chitty joined Reuben and made a quickfire 18 before he was out and the score 3/140.
Reuben who fell just short of a half century a couple of weeks ago, played really smartly and was rewarded with his first 50 not out.
Blayden Coverly came in and made 8, Jack Williams made 0 and the score was then 5/156.
Liam Wilson made his highest score of 14 that included three boundaries before he was out and the score 6/171.
Heidi Ireland made 3 not out and Blake Rees 1 not out with Collie finishing 6/172 from 35 overs.
Blayden Coverley and Blake Rees (3 overs 0/18) opened the bowling and Coverley took the first wicket bowled with the score on 14.
Max Ireland bowled 3 overs 0/14 before Robbie Chitty came on and took the second wicket bowled with the score on 2/34.
Adam Worlley (4 overs 2/10) picked up two leg before wickets and Zak Reuben (4 overs 1/14) picked one up caught by Jack Williams to have the score 5/83.
A 45-run partnership then developed before Blayden Coverley produced a great direct hit run out, charging in from mid off and picking the ball up one handed to knock the stumps over.
A score of 6/128 then became 9/135 with two wickets for Josh Elliott (4 overs 2/26); one bowled and one caught and bowled, and another direct hit run out by Max Ireland.
Jack Williams bowled 2 overs 0/17 and Liam Wilson bowled 1 over 0/7 before Chitty and Coverley were brought back to try to finish the innings.
Chitty bowled extremely well for 5 overs 1/14 and Coverley finished the job with a wicket bowled to have 4.2 overs 2/21.
Colts all out for 149 and Collie won by 23 runs.
Collie started this game with 10 players, then unfortunately young star Heidi hurt her hip and left nine on the field.
Max and Blake also had niggling injuries on field, but this group showed such a great level of attitude and teamwork to get the job done.
It was a great effort from everyone.

Women's
Female cricket is on the rise and there's never been a better time to get involved.
Collies first ever “travelling female cricketer” is making herself noticed among the boys and would love to see more girls get out there and give cricket a go.
Isabella Dallywater decided to play cricket this year after spending previous seasons watching from the sidelines.
“At first I was nervous,” Isabella said.
“I was nervous at the thought of playing in front of boys who had spent most their lives hitting around a ball!
"But once I got out onto the field for the first time, it didn’t even bother me. I just felt like part of the team,” she said.
Isabella has spent the season playing for Collie in the Year 7 competition, competing against other teams from Donnybrook, Leschenault, Bunbury and Dalyellup.
Isabella also decided to give district cricket a go, playing for Wellington on numerous occasions.
Back in January, Isabella received a call from Rachel Norman (south west cricket manager WACA) asking her if she would like to participate in an “all girls” cricket carnival.
The carnival is an annual event aimed at celebrating female cricket and allows the girls of WA to improve and showcase their skills.
“I was one of heaps of girls who attended the three-day camp in Fremantle," Isabella said.
"We played cricket against other teams from towns such as Broome, Kalgoorlie, Geraldton and Esperance.
"We learnt how to play indoor cricket and also got to attend a WBBL match which saw Scorchers take on Sixers.
"I made so many friends and the best part is when I get to see those girls again when I play against them in our regular season!” she said.
This week Isabella was best on field with bowling stats of 4/4 off 4 overs including a caught and bowled.
Unfortunately, Collie went down the Dallyelup by 86 runs.
As the season draws to an end the Collie Junior Cricket Club would like to extend an invitation to all the girls out there who think they might be interested in giving cricket a go next season, to come down to the club and register their interest.

B-Grade
Collie travelled to Donnybrook in the top of the table B-grade cricket clash. Collie won the toss and chose to bat first. Brayden Kent fell in the first seeing Mark Williams join Bailey Moloney to steady the ship.
Mark Williams was bowled with the score at 56 and Blair Malatesta and Greg Tomasini failed to partner Moloney with both being dismissed for 4 and 7 respectively.
Gagan Sidhu managed to partner Moloney and the pair got the score to 105 before Sidhu was bowled. The in-form Connor Mumme and Matt Tanner both failed to trouble the scorers and Collie were looking in trouble at 7 for 109.
Veteran Matt Hislop showed his experience and, together with Moloney, got the score board going again.
Moloney passed 50 and Collie were looking at 160 plus until Moloney was run out for 54.
Jason Borrett was caught in the covers and Tyson Hayes joined Hislop. Hislop managed to clear the rope to get Collie over the 150 mark but Collie’s innings closed at 155 with Tyson Hayes not being able to make his ground running an easy 2.
Best batsmen: B. Moloney 54, M. Williams 29, M. Hislop 28.
With Donnybrook having a deep batting line-up, early wickets were the key. Jason Borrett was on song and picked up the wicket of the dangerous Manea for 2.
Donnybrook settled and got to 45 before Gagan Sidhu and Borrett took 3 quick wickets to suddenly have Donnybrook reeling at 4 for 46.
With the game in the balance Donnybrook batted aggressively and looked like giving up another wicket at any moment.
Mark Williams finally got the breakthrough to have Donnybrook 5 for 71. Donnybrook rallied and put together a match winning partnership for the 6th wicket putting on 73 until Matt Tanner dismissed Paul Reynolds for 39.
The partnership had finished the game and with the home team 6 for 147 a couple of big hits got the top team over the line in the 41st over.
Best bowlers: J. Borrett 2 for 21 from 10, G. Sidhu 2 for 34 from 8 29, M. Williams 1 for 40 from 10.
Collie sit a game clear in second and with only two games left the possibility of playing Donnybrook for a home grand final is almost assured.
Having had the minor premiers 4 for 46, Collie now understand the importance of momentum.
C-Grade
Collie won the toss and went into bat, unfortunately they lost some quick wickets, J. Fraser(2) and J, Graham for a duck.
J. Shepherd fell shortly after two and Collie was 3/13. R. Chappell and J. Dallywater started to build a partnership until Chappy was caught for 6.
R. Bebbington fell two balls later LBW (0) and Dallywater didn't hang around much longer, edging one behind for 18.
Collie were in trouble 6/42. Aaron Worlley started to strike the ball well with M. Thompson supporting him from the other end until he was bowled (7).
S. Fraser came to the crease, but shortly after there was a mix up with their running and Worlley was runout for 27.
The tail quickly fell; T. Butcher (0), S. Fraser (14) and Adam Worlley not out. Collie was all out in the 31st over 10/93.
S. Fraser opened the bowling with Bebbington who both bowled extremely well. Fraser took the first wicket in his 2nd over, Marist 1/7.
Fraser broke through again in his last over getting the batsman to edge through to Dallywater.
Fraser was then back into it as he ran out Marist's 3rd batsman, but the damage was done by Marist cruising over the line in the 25th over, finishing 3/97.
Bowling stats: S. Fraser 9 overs 2/18, R. Bebbington 5 overs 0/23, J. Shepherd 6 overs 0/22, Adam Worlley 4 overs 0/15, M. Thompson 1.4 overs 0/17.
