Allanson Primary School students acknowledged their local firefighters last week by dressing in red and giving a donation to the Allanson Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade as part of Thank You Fireys Day.
The national day which focuses on recognising firefighters in our communities started in 2014, and is held annually on the last day of Summer.
The students were given a tour of the brigade building, fire truck and car, before presenting a cheque.
Allanson Primary School principal Simon Paton said it was a topical thing to support shortly after the most recent Allanson bushfire which happened in January.
"We were looking for an opportunity to do something to support and thank our firefighters and saw this as a great opportunity to do something with our local brigade," he said.
"It's not just parents that donated money, a lot of kids donated their own pocket money too."
Allanson Bush Fire Brigade crew member and Allanson Bushfire Ready Group facilitator Kym King said it was great to get the students involved.
"Every bit helps. The money will go towards purchasing new equipment," she said.
