Community Home Care in Collie recently revealed their new building extension and facility upgrades on Friday, March 1, at their open day.
The extension at the new office was WA Government – Home and Community Care grant funded, and was carried out by local contractor White Building Co, to upgrade the kitchen, office, and activity areas.
Last August, the CHC team moved their office from the Margaretta Wilson Centre up to the Collie Adult Day Care Centre located at 7 Vernon Street.
Community Home Care chief executive officer Susan Clements thanked her 140 staff across the South West and over 370 volunteers.
"I just want to thank every one of our volunteers because without them we just couldn't do it," she said.
"They bring so much value to the communities right across the South West, including Collie, and because of their contribution we can get much more done."
CHC provide several services including: personal care, domestic support, gardening, Meals on Wheels, transport, and social support.
Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray said the well-being of the elderly and the disabled was paramount.
"I would just like to take my hat off to all the volunteers. Our society is so reliant today on volunteers, backed up by very good staff," he said.
Shire of Collie president Sarah Stanley applauded all the members of the board, staff and the volunteers.
"Well done to everyone. It's also wonderful to see a local contractor build this beautiful facility, providing a bit of support for our local builders and allowing them to put it back into the community," she said.
