The Darkan CWA and their community put in a fantastic effort contributing 653 crocheted and knitted poppies to help the Greenbushes Belles CWA build their ANZAC wall.
The project is an installation of hand made poppies sewed onto hessian that will cover a fence behind the epitaph at the Greenbushes RSL.
The banner is for their centenary and will be presented to them for ANZAC day this year.
They put the word out to the local community and could not believe the amount of support they received, especially from the Darkan branch.
The Greenbushes Belles CWA drove to meet their Darkan counterparts for the first time.
The Greenbushes Belles CWA president Sharon Edward said the Darkan CWA were a force to be reckoned with.
"Not only did they hand us a massive amount of poppies but had created a lovely morning tea for us," she said.
"They have some great plans for the ladies in their district and are backed up by the largest women's organisation in the state."
Darkan CWA president Jane Hartnett said they were happy to help.
"They advertised that they needed help making 5000 poppies because they didn't think they could make them all themselves," she said.
"We had a meeting and decided that it sounded like a fantastic idea and so we got to work. We were very pleased because there were only seven of us and to do 653 in under a months time we were just over the moon."
