Anzac Day Service in Darkan
The West Arthur Anzac Service is on Thursday, April 25 with the march leaving from outside the Shire Office at 8.50am and the service at the West Arthur War Memorial starting at 9am.
The service will be followed by light refreshments. This event is hosted by the Darkan RSL and proudly supported by the Shire of West Arthur and the Department of Veteran's Affairs.
Purple People Show
Come along to the Darkan Town Hall on Saturday, May 4 for a jaw-dropping stunt show as part of the Country Arts WA program.
The doors open at 5.30 with food for sale before the show starting at 6pm. The cost is only $5 for adults and $2 for school aged children with children under 5 free.
Presented locally by the Shire of West Arthur and the West Arthur Community Resource Centre it will be a great night out.
Door sales only so just come along on the night.
Shire Works and Projects
Maintenance graders will be working in the north-east and north-west areas of Shire with works planned for this fortnight include gravel sheeting and drainage works, weed verge spraying and shoulder grading.
Oppy Shop Notes
The March takings for the Darkan Oppy Shop came to $360 which was sent to the Cancer Council of WA. April funds go to the Royal Flying Doctors.
Remember the Oppy Shop is closed over the school holidays and reopen on Tuesday April 30 from 10am to 4pm.
The Oppy Shop is very appreciative of all those who use the shop and wish everyone a very Happy Easter.
Upper Great Southern Footy League
The first game of footy will be held on Saturday, April 27 with Wagin Football Club v Wickepin at the Darkan Oval.
Come down and support the boys as well as watch our local Auskick kids play their first game for the season.
Stick around for Darkan Primary School P&C Fundraiser dinner with steak meals with kids options, at the Darkan Sports Complex that night.
Volunteers are needed to help serve in the canteen and everyone is encouraged to bring a plate for afternoon tea.

Women's Opening Day is April 24 at 9.45am and the Men's Opening Day is April 27 at 12.30pm. New members welcome.
