Stephen Hall, fresh off the plane from Europe after competing in European track racing, won the 77th edition of the Tom Lowry Memorial cycle race last weekend.
The race was run in cold and wet conditions on Sunday over 121 kilometres.
The 40-strong field remained together until just after the turn point on the first lap of the McAlinden circuit.
A small group went off the front and held about a one-minute lead for 50 kilometres.
The small breakaway group was reeled back in just before entering the Collie Motorplex on the second and final lap of the race.
A bunch of about 20 riders entered the circuit and, at this point, it looked like it could be a large bunch sprint finish.
However, with one kilometre to go, a small group of riders went off the front and maintained a narrow lead to the finish line.
Stephen Hall then showed his class and power as a world-level competitor by winning the sprint from Luke Pledger of Peel Districts, with Southwest Cycle Club's Bryce Lannigan in third place.
Stephen Hall had also shown his world-class ability by winning Saturday's A-grade criterium race with a very powerful sprint finish from Albany rider Craig Wiggins and Matthew Harvey from Midland.
The women's A-grade road race was won by Sofia Erhard from Perth, with Danica Wiggins from Albany and Isla Carr of Perth.
Another great effort over the weekend was B-grade rider Wayne Thompson taking out the double by winning the criterium on Saturday and road race on Sunday.
The inaugural running of the Bill Moloney Junior Tour, sponsored by Premier Coal, which ran over the two days, was hotly contested by all riders taking part.
The under 17 men's was won by Matthew Connon from Perth with Bunbury's Joshua Commons in second and Midland cycle clubs Oliver Schurmann in third place.
The Under 15s was won by Ashton Sime with Nicholas Bolt second and Tory Appleton third.
