Results for weekend ending Saturday, May 25
David Broadbent was back to his best form in a big way in last Saturday's 18-hole stableford event, sponsored by Eric and Rhonda Annandale.
"Big Broady" scored 45 stableford points, winning the event by five shots from runner-up Ian Stewart, who finished the day with 40 points.
A further shot away, in third position on 39 points was Stephen Farquhar, on a countback from Neil McDonald, also on 39 points.
Regan Old, with 37 points was next, followed by George Newlands and Trevor McCormick, both finishing with 36 points.
John Wray and Clive Pullan each received a voucher for their score of 34 points as did Steven Ireland, Ron Annandale and Len Hennighan for their respective 33 points finish.
Dot Lawrence and Angela Ireland finished well ahead of the ladies' field, with both players returning 37 points and Dot winning on a countback.
Novelty winners on the day were as follows:
Nearest the pins - John Wray (No. 4), Vicki Graham (No. 4), Ron Annandale (No. 7) and Steve Farquhar (No. 14); Longest first putt - Lynne Simmonds (No. 6), George Newlands (No. 9) and David Broadbent (No. 18); Longest drive No.15 - Brett Smith.
Scroungers
David Broadbent put the writing on the wall as far as his Saturday victory was concerned by winning last Thursday's nine-hole scroungers competition. He scored 21 points, winning the event by one shot from runner-up, John Michalak, who scored 20 points.
On 19 points apiece were Graham Williams, Joe Italiano, Bruce Jackson, Jim Moyses and John Wray while Rod Simmonds and Jay Robinson rounded out the vouchers with their return of 18 points each.
Novelties were won by George Dorozenko (4), Graham Williams (6) and Jay Robinson (9). Graham Williams had the best recorded gross score of 40 off the stick.
Leisure Day
John Wray was victorious in last Thursday's 18-hole leisure day event. He scored 37 points to win the event, on a countback from Joel Simmonds, also on 37 points. Alan Kent, with 36 points, was the day's best vet, followed by David Laird and Pat Coll, each on 35 points. Peter Coombs and Mun Lye each returned a score of 34 points, followed by Graham Williams and Jay Robinson who rounded out the vouchers with their 33 points finish.
Novelties went to Len Hennighan (4), Ken Tate (7), Trevor Graham (9), John Wray (14) and Steven Ireland (18).

This Saturday's event is an 18-hole stableford, sponsored by TPS; Scroungers today (Thursday, May 30); and Leisure day next Tuesday (June 4) at the usual times.
