Bunbury Carnival Year 9/10 Results
The Collie 9/10 girls had a fantastic long weekend winning the carnival division at the Bunbury carnival.
The first game was against Collie's arch rivals Bunbury Red and the girls played with determination and skill.
Collie took a little while to settle and get used to the bounce of the grass but once they mastered the grass there was no turning back, with Collie running out winners 3-0.
Game 2 was another good game. Playing against North Coast Raiders yellow, Collie had their measure with a hard fought 4-0 win.
Game 3 and Collie was up against North Coast Raiders Green and the game could have gone either way, with both teams having control of the game at certain times and looking dangerous.
When the siren went the score was 1-1 and the Collie girls knew they had played an extremely worthy opponent.
Game 4 was on the turf and the Collie team was up against Fremantle who knew how to play turf style hockey, with possession being the key.
The Collie girls put on a clinical display and showed the city team how well they could play as a team and ran away winners 8-1.
The Fremantle coach applauded the quality and style of hockey the Collie girls played.
Sunday morning the girls were up against UGSHA and the contest was another even tussle with Collie taking the win 1-0.
Game 6 was against YMCC from the city and the girls were starting to believe in themselves, but even more so in each other; and quality passing saw Collie run out winners 6-0.
The last game on Sunday was Collie vs Melville and with weary legs the girls ran out winners 4-0.
Monday morning the girls knew if they won they would be playing in the grand final and the competition was fierce against LGSHA.
Collie took some time to settle and when they did they played some solid hockey to out play their opponents and come away with the win 4-0.
Collie took on North Coast Raiders Green in the grand final and an even contest similar to their last game was witnessed by all.
Collie scored first but NCR were not to be taken lightly and put pressure on the Collie team to even up the game.
The Collie girls had a game on their hands and sealed the flag with a timely goal to run out winners 2-0.
The NCR coach was extremely impressed with the Collie girls as six of the girls were Year 9s.
The whole team played with maturity and a disciplined structure and were a pleasure to watch.
